Cantilever construction

Cantilever construction

Cantilever construction involves the erection of a bridge superstructure by sequentially assembling its prefabricated elements. Once delivered to the construction site, the elements are commonly lifted from floating equipment using the heavy lifting method, which employs hydraulic jacks, a set of cables, and anchorage. After lifting and precise positioning, the segments are connected to previously installed elements. In the case of concrete structures, the connection is achieved through prestressing cables or bars, while for steel structures, welding is used.
